서울시립대학교 스마트구조시스템 연구실에서는  4차산업혁명 기술을 바탕으로 안전하고 스마트한 사회를 건설하기 위한 다양한 스마트 구조 기술을 개발하고 있습니다. 스마트 구조 기술이란 기존의 토목 구조물에 최신 IT기술을 접목함으로써, 구조물의 현재 상태를 더욱 정확하게 파악하고 구조물에 새로운 기능을 부여하는 기술을 의미합니다.

본 연구실에서는 높은 수준의 구조공학적 지식을 기반으로 스마트 센서 기술, 신호처리 기술, 영상처리 기술, 딥러닝 및 인공지능 기술, 빅데이터 기술, 데이터 융합 기술을 구조공학에 접목하고 있습니다. 이를 통해 구조물의 진단, 유지관리, 건전도 평가 및 구조물 성능 개선을 목표로 연구를 수행하고 있습니다.
